Each moment, we can live from the mind or we can live
from presence. By 'mind', I am referring to the conditioned mind. It is
made up of reactive and habitual ways of thinking, feeling and behaving and
also includes your self-image. Unless you see the mind as it is, presence
remains only a concept and true happiness remains elusive.
Presence can be experienced in moments of love or when you feel deeply touched in some way – any moment when you are
not identified with the mind. Whenever you are present - in the
moment - you are at your centre. These moments have depth and stillness. And when layers of
mind are peeled away,
presence is revealed - or whatever you like to call it - essence, true nature,
self, being.

When you see the mind as it is, you begin to realize who
you really are. You wake up from the trance of the past and there is a
shift from darkness to light. You can live more and more from
your depths, from presence – wherever you are, whoever you are with and
whatever you are doing. This is true freedom. The world is entirely
different when you experience it from presence rather than from the mind. It’s really
amazing!
